How to collect campaign data through campaign URLs
Although Google Analytics already lets you know what site your website visitors came from, this isn’t enough data to properly evaluate marketing efforts, such as advertising. For example, many businesses promote their business on Facebook using both paid and unpaid features. In this case, simply knowing visitors came from Facebook won’t inform how well the advertising is performing. Therefore to identify traffic as advertising, and to provide further advertising details, “campaign URLs” can be created and set as the ad’s landing page.
The following Google Analytics Help article will guide you through how this works, and it features a link to Google’s Campaign URL Builder tool.
